So you are craving a sandwich. You are having trouble deciding between a subway (It’s located right next to Brooklyn Bridge Deli) and a bahn mi. Well, you came to the right place (or rather review) because I’m about to rain praises on this sandwich joint.
No, there are no fancy awards or prestigious medals to scream out “Eat here! We have plenty of prestige and recognition!”. But, once you try the artfully crafted sandwiches with its delightful combination of fresh veggies and quality filling, you will never have to think twice between Subways and sandwiches from Brooklyn Bridge Deli!
Food:
The deli has a wide range of unique and exotic sandwiches which is not limited to The Cubano, The Reuben, and The Po’Boy. They also serve classics such as smoked salmon sandwiches to a creamy and warm cream cheese bagel. If carbs ain’t really your thing, they also serve salads (Never tried them, so can’t really recommend whether it tastes fantastic or just ok).
On the day on which I decided to grab a sandwich for the blog, I tried The Cubano.
To put it simply, it was delightful! The pulled pork was warm, moist, absolutely juicy, and bursting with pork flavour goodness. The pickles do well to cut through the greasiness to provide an excellent taste experience. I’ve also tried other sandwiches such as The Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich which I can all recommend wholeheartedly.
All the sandwiches are prepared fresh right in front of you on a counter and you are free to pick and choose the combinations of veggies and sauce to suit your taste.
However, at the end of the day, it’s still a humble sandwich. It may blow your socks away with its flavour but it just fails to provide a unique taste profile to be rated 9+.
Atmosphere:
The deli provides a cozy and warm atmosphere for diners to enjoy. It’s a beautifully decorated shop with a variety of posters and memorabilia that catches your eye wherever you look.
However, the deli loses some points on the limited seating option it provides. It can fit a max of 3 - 4 people (Covid rules) which may not be enough if the deli gets busy.
Hospitality:
If you wanted to find faults with the service you really would have to nitpicking. Over the multiple visits that I have had at this deli, each visit was filled with a warm welcome and a tasty sandwich. Staff is very polite and well trained, so not much to say there.
Would definitely recommend anyone to visit the place if they are near town hall station, as it's only a 3 minute walk from the station and is well worth your trip!
